Michel Industrial Services was created in 1995 at an industrial
construction site. A young energetic electrical project manager, named CJ
Michel, was frustrated that his men did not show up on the job. He was tasked
to complete the project and was determined to do so with a crew of skilled
technicians. He personally recruited a new workforce of qualified people, and
the job was successfully completed on time and within budget. His focus changed
from that point forward, recognizing the importance of recruiting and retaining
good people for the industrial and commercial construction industry. Mr. Michel
stepped out of the project management arena into the contracting
realm!
In the beginning
it was a challenge for this young engineer. But new opportunities on the
horizon beckoned Mr. Michel to move forward. Initially he had to persuade the
construction contractors in the Midwest to allow him to fill their vacancies
with his people. And most importantly he had to entice additional
skilled tradesmen to leave their employers to follow his lead! Gradually
he had a few signed agreements in hand and the wheels of progress began to
churn.
Expanding the Business
By 2000
MIS was establishing itself in the Midwest. With several successful electrical
contracts under its belt the company was moving forward quite rapidly.
MIS was now conducting business in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas as well as in
Alabama and Louisiana.
From
2000 through 2005 Michel Industrial Services experienced tremendous growth.
During the 6-year period MIS expanded its electrical contracting capabilities
into Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, Georgia and Ohio.
2005
was a landmark year for MIS, opening a branch office in Louisville Kentucky.
The expansion was necessary to better serve its clients with an expanse in
demographics, coupled with a realignment of corporate responsibilities. Also in
2005, because of a trust built between MIS and its clients, MIS began providing
a variety of craftsmen outside its typical electrical workforce. MIS is
now supplying qualified Instrumentation Technicians/ Instrumentation Fitters,
Pipe Fitters and Pipe Welders. MIS has successfully launched this new
recruitment campaign and has comfortably made the transition.
